The staff at Circle of Recovery, Inc. is experienced trainers, chemical dependency counselors, mental health professionals and relapse prevention specialist working as a team committed to providing quality care to the individuals being served.
About the founder: Karen Kelly, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, MAC, CCS, CRPS, CPSIV, CAMF
Dr. Kelly’s professional experience includes over 30 years working in a variety of Human Service Organizations. Many of those years were spent in the Substance Abuse and Human Services field. Dr. Kelly has provided services to both adults as well as adolescents. Dr. Kelly has held a variety of different positions and has worked in a variety of treatment settings. At present, one of the many hats Dr. Kelly is a past President of the state association’s, Georgia Addiction Counselor Association. In addition, she is the founding president of Circle of Recovery, Inc. A treatment program geared towards assisting individuals afflicted with mental health and alcohol/drug problems. She served as the past Project Director at the Morehouse School of Medicine, Cork Institute, Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center, in Atlanta, GA., and has taught at several major universities, to include online courses throughout the US. In addition to her training in addictions she is dually trained in mental health, criminal justice and holds certifications as a Master Level Addictions’ counselors, a Nationally Certified Addictions Counselor Level II, Nationally Certified Relapse Prevention Specialist, Certified Clinical Supervisor, Certified Criminal Justice Specialist, Certified Prevention Specialist Level IV, Certified Risk Reduction Instructor, and a Nationally certified Anger Management Facilitator. In addition she is a Nationally Certified Trainer/Instructor through NAADAC since1985.
Dr. Kelly continues to provide ongoing consultation, training, and drug/alcohol education, as well as training in other areas of human services. Dr. Kelly continues to develop many diverse substance abuse treatment, training, and educational programs.
Dr. Kelly holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Human Services, from Capella University, a Masters of Science degree in Administration with a minor in Psychology from Central Michigan University, a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Park College, and two Associates of Science degree from The Community College of the Air Force, one is in Nursing the other is in Social Services. Dr. Kelly currently holds memberships in the National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors, (NADAAC), the Georgia Addictions Counselor Association, (GACA), and the American Counseling Association (ACA), The Association for Mental Health Professionals and the Forensic Counselors Association.
