Basic Substance Abuse Training (Atlanta)

Training & Education Programs Designed Circle of Recovery, Inc. recognizes the need for a training system that provides courses to assist providers in effectively managing individuals who present with chemical dependency problems. Providers of chemical dependency services require knowledge and skills necessary to provide competent, quality based substance abuse treatment services. It is our aim to provide opportunities for these professionals/Para-professionals to receive up- to- date, state-of-the-art education and training in addiction treatment service delivery.

Providers of chemical dependency services require knowledge and skills necessary to provide competent, quality based substance abuse treatment services. It is our aim to provide opportunities for these professionals/Para-professionals to receive up- to- date, state-of-the-art education and training in addiction treatment service delivery.

This course meets all 8 Skills Group/12 Core Function Requirements)
The 70 hour Substance Abuse Counselor Course of instruction provides the individual with an understanding of the Pharmacology of drugs, and the necessary helper/counselor skills needed to affect change in substance abusers. The Short Term Client Systems 43-hour block provides participants with listening and responding skills in the areas of empathy, values, attitudes and problem solving.
The Assessment Intake and Treatment Planning (AITP)/DSM IV-PPC-2. This 40-hour block provides the participant with skills needed to assess, diagnosis, recommend levels of care and treat the substance-abusing individual and the remaining27 hours of required training centers Professional Ethics, Cultural Diversity and HIV & AIDS. The Basic Substance Abuse Counselor course is an approved course for those working towards addiction counselor certification as an addictions counselor.

To assist in meeting the needs of those providers, Circle of Recovery, Inc., provides ongoing substance abuse education and training to providers, agencies and communities that provide services to consumers experiencing substance abuse problems.
